Description: Do You Want to Engineer a Better World?
Responsibilities:
• Staff manager for technical personnel including engineers, scientists,
drafters, and designers. Direct reports will be located both locally and
remotely (i.e., outside of the Boise, Idaho area).
• Actively manage staff workload, personal leave, staff project
management, etc.; and provide the Director of Operations with up-to-date
reports, as required.
• Provide project technical support in the field and office within
technical discipline.
• Develop technical reports that are sound in scientific, client,
and/or regulatory perspective.
• Assist in the development of new and existing clients.
• Manage projects with high quality within scope, schedule, and
budget.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience in successfully managing and motivating technical staff
(i.e., engineers, scientists, etc.).
• Strong oral and excellent written communication skills - ability
to clearly communicate information to diverse audiences of colleagues,
direct reports, clients, and regulators.
• Ability to foster a strong team working environment.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Soils, Agronomy; or Civil, Biological/Agricultural
Engineering; or related fields.
• Registered in technical discipline or ability to do so within
six months.
• Self-starter, able to work without immediate supervision and with
other staff not in the same office.
• Ability to work with both internal and external customers.
• Six to eight years experience in environmental and water resources.
• Experience and skills in successful project management.
• Proficient with software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to write fundamentally well: use of correct grammar and
complete thoughts in an organized, comprehensive fashion.
• Experience preparing reports that evaluate and summarize data,
with appropriate tables, figures, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Ability to perform physical activities (e.g., bend, stoop, lift
up to 50 pounds from floor to waist high, walk, etc.).
• Ability to work in outdoor and field conditions (hot, cold, snow,
wet, wind, mud, dry, etc.).
• Ability to travel away from home up to five continous days and
extended trips to include weekends (occasionally).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Training in modern supervision methods, including remote supervision,
Gallup Q12, etc.
• Experience in client relations and proposal writing.
• 3-5 years professional consulting experience.
• Professional Project Manager registration.
• Business development skills and experience.
• Masters Degree in Soils, Agronomy, Civil Engineering or related
fields

Description: Mining Engineer or Geologist with Mining Background
Cascade Earth
Sciences (CES) is a well established engineering and earth science consulting
firm that has supported mining projects in the western United States for
10+ years. CES is expanding our Nevada presence and is seeking a motivated
and experienced senior engineer / project manager to work in a matrix
organization in conjunction with the Western Staff Manager, Mining Sector
Leader, and the Director of Business Development to implement projects,
and to develop additional presence and business opportunitites.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with developing, managing, and performing mining-related
projects primarily in Nevada and northern California. Projects will consist
of active and planned mines, abandoned mine projects, and other industrial
water management projects.
o Secure environmental and engineering consulting projects
o Obtain and maintain necessary permits for clients
o Design, install, and start water treatment/management systems
o Map, sample, and assess sites for permitting and closure
o Containment water management system design
o Construction management and oversight
o Sample water, sediment, tailings, wasterock, soil, etc.
o Acid rock drainage prediction and hyrogeochemical modeling
o Hydrologic/hydrogeologic modeling
• Assist staff with reporting related to abandoned mine lands projects,
including:
o Preliminary Assessments
o Site Inspections
o Engineering Evaluations/Cost Analysis
o Work plans, including sampling and analyses and health and safety plans
• Assist with general reclamation projects, including cap and grading
designs, hydraulic structures (i.e., riprap), etc.
• This position would also assist with other engineering and environmental
programs, including but not limited to active and abandoned mine lands,
spill prevention countermeasure and control plans (SPCCs), wastewater
treatment, and general engineering consulting
• Assist other CES staff in meeting with clients to develop and
present designs and proposals
• Travel would be required to secure projects, manage projects,
and conduct fieldwork from a few days to a week or more occassionally,
and travel to other offices within CES to coordinate work
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor of science (B.S.) degree in engineering, (mining or geological
preferred, would consider B.S. in geology with engineering, environmental
and mining background)
• 10+ years of applicable experience
• Registered as a PE, in Nevada or prepared to obtain a PE within
1 year.
• Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks and
expand an engineering consulting office
• Self-starter, able to work without immediate supervision and with
other engineers not in the same office
• Strong desire to pursue a professional engineering consulting
career within the private sector
• Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet programs (e.g.,
Microsoft Word and Excel).
• Ability to write well and provide clear oral presentations.
• Experience preparing reports that evaluate and summarize data,
with appropriate tables, figures, conclusions, and recommendations
• Ability to perform physical activities (e.g., bend, stoop, lift
up to 50 pounds from floor to waist high, walk, etc.)
• Able to perform field activities (e.g., bend, stoop, occasionally
lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist high, walk, etc.) under adverse
conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
• M.S. in Engineering
• Experience with AutoCAD and other engineering and geological software.
• Registered as a Mining PE in Nevada
• Nevada Certified Environmental Manager (CEM) registration
