Boundary Creek
Ducks Unlimited, Inc.
The Boundary Creek Diversion Structure Project involved the evaluation, design and construction of a 20 cfs diversion structure for wetlands enhancement at the Boundary Creek WRP near the Idaho Canadian Border. The project involved participation from Ducks Unlimited, Idaho Fish and Wildlife and the Natural Resource Conservation Service. Ducks Unlimited retained CES to design and build a fish screen and diversion structure acceptable by regulatory agencies.

The water delivered by the structures had to meet the approved water right while maintaining fish passage during widely varying flows. The structure is an innovative V-weir design with no moving parts. The project also included a water delivery system with flushing control and flow measurement. CES provided Ducks Unlimited with a complete design-build package including regulatory negotiation and approval, preliminary and detailed structure design, structure construction and construction management and final project record documents.

CES has also completed other projects for Ducks Unlimited, Inc. and is currently working for Ducks Unlimited to design three pool and chute fish ladder check structures at the Ladd Marsh Wildlife Refuge near La Grande, Oregon.

Blitzen River Fish Habitat Restoration
Oregon Fish and Wildlife Service
CES is designing improved fish habitat for a three-mile reach of the Blitzen River on the Malheur Refuge. This river is incised into deep silts and clays and has been extensively modified by channel straightening. CES is designing a stable system that improves fish habitat as well as continuing to meet the refuge purposes and goals.
